I started training in Judo at the age of 12: as someone who want to learn how to do a form of grappling, and my science teacher was a 4th Dan black belt, Judo was the perfect choice.
Throwing around big people, and putting them in an armlock: what’s not to like?
Judo is an accessible Olympic sport, and is hugely adaptable: I’m committed to tailoring training to everyone’s needs.
I competed through out my teens, and then have always re-turned to Judo over nearly 30 years.
As the commando temple lead Judo Coach I am a Level 2 British Judo Association coach, and So hold up to date Enhanced CRB, first aid and safeguarding.
I consider myself a life long student of Judo, but I also have a keen interest in all grappling disciplines, and their training systems.
I also wrestled professionally for a number of years, and often draw on other traditional grappling arts such as catch wrestling, Sombo and even Cornish wrestling: I know a good Lancashire cross buttock or a double sprag when I see one!
Training with me will develop strength and conditioning using judo and mat wrestling based exercises that will get you ready for action in daily life even if competition on the tatami is not for you!
