Dan is one of the latest Coaches to join the team here at the Commando Temple. He is one of the Strongman Coaches and runs a strength & conditioning group class. Dan is also a Personal Trainer and we asked Dan to write a little bit about his approach to 121 training and what you can expect from him (as a client) in this capacity. Here’s what he had to say:
I’ve been training for over 25 years and competing in strength sports for more than a decade, nationally and internationally and as such my passion lies in getting people stronger but that doesn’t mean I can’t help you lose bodyfat or improve your health.
I’ve been coaching for a while now, and I have learnt that anyone who claims to specialise in 4 or 5 different things, is by definition, not a specialist, so instead I like to focus on one or two areas and do them well.
After the initial consultation and goal setting, I’ll look at your fitness, movement patterns and then your technique for what I consider the 4 foundational lifts, Deadlift, Squat, Bench press and Overhead press.
Once I have this information, I will take a deeper look at your nutrition to make small achievable changes that become habits and then look at programming to match the intensity to your current fitness and strength level, which is then progressed as you improve.
As a coach, it’s my job to educate and once you make that commitment to me, I will give you the same back.
