Train With Us Outdoors in The Peak District
For more than a decade, we have helped people rebuild discipline, confidence, and resilience through structured, intelligent training. Every session at the Commando Temple is about progress. Whether you’re standing on the gym floor in London or breathing cold air on a hill in the Peak District, the goal is the same: to become stronger in body, sharper in mind, and more capable in life.
For years organizing quality outdoors training was a logistical challenge for us. We felt that outdoor adventure and military fitness training, being so important to the Commando Temple, deserved a base of operations somewhere sensible. Over a year later and our private studio in the Peaks is running 1 to 1 personal training and group sessions, both in and outdoors. It´s also a sports injury rehab clinic and has, very importantly, raised the standard of our outdoor and military programmes.
We Were Born Under the Arches
Deptford, to be precise, is where it all began. Beneath these railway arches of South East London, The Commando Temple has grown into one of the UK’s most respected strength and conditioning facilities – a place where expertise, community, and accountability come together.
Every barbell, every rig, every session under those arches exists for one reason: to build capability. From Strength Training and Callisthenics to Muay Thai, training here is about precision, progression, and pushing through the noise of everyday life.
The London gym remains the beating heart of The Commando Temple – a space that attracts serious coaches and committed members alike. It’s where the culture was forged, and where it continues to evolve.
Strength and Survival Outdoors
The same standards that shaped our London headquarters also live in the hills and ridgelines of the Peak District. Surrounded by rock, forest, and open sky, the environment itself becomes a training partner. Every climb, every carry, every sprint across uneven ground is an education in adaptability. That´s one of the key reasons why our founders live there and opened the gym in Chesterfield, our main base of operations for outdoor training.
Up there the air might be cleaner but the challenge is no easier. The terrain tests balance and endurance as much as strength. Weather replaces machines. Grit replaces comfort. The result is the same discipline, just expressed through nature’s design rather than concrete and steel.
Like our out gym and personal trainers in London, the Commando Temple Peak District is anything but commercial – it’s an extension of the same philosophy. A space where body and mind are tested by real elements, not controlled conditions. For those who train here, every session is a reminder that resilience can’t be faked.
Led From Both Fronts
Rob and Mayyah Blair continue to lead from the front – coaching across both locations and holding the same uncompromising standard wherever they stand. Their approach hasn’t softened with time; if anything, it’s sharpened.
They’ve guided hundreds through transformations that go far beyond aesthetics. Members have rebuilt confidence, restored discipline, and rediscovered purpose – the kind of results that don’t fade when the programme ends.
Whether it’s a one-to-one coaching session in London or a workshop in the Peaks, the leadership remains the same: direct, honest, and rooted in decades of professional experience.
The Broader Mission
The Commando Temple has never been about quick wins or instant gratification. It exists to develop strength that translates – the kind that shows up when the stakes are high.
Training indoors teaches precision, control, and consistency. The structure, the progression, the discipline of showing up day after day.
Training outdoors strips that structure away and tests what remains. Can you adapt when the ground shifts, when the weather turns, when fatigue and doubt creep in?
Both environments serve the same purpose: preparation. Because the real world doesn’t care whether you trained under a roof or under the sky – only whether you’re ready when it matters.
That’s the mission. To raise standards. To build capability. To make people ready – not just for sport, but for life.
