British Army Fitness Standards Training
Preparing for the British Army fitness tests? Or do you just want to reach that standard?
This demands more than regular gym sessions. At the Commando Temple, our military fitness training (led by ex-Royal Marine Commando Rob Blair) designs and delivers bespoke programmes to help you meet and exceed the British Army’s Physical Employment Standards (PES). This applies to infantry, parachute regiment and specialist units.
Our training develops the strength, endurance, and resilience needed to succeed.
What Are the British Army Fitness Standards?
The Army uses Role Fitness Tests (RFTs) to ensure soldiers are physically ready for their roles in the field. These include:
- Loaded marches carrying full kit over distance
- Casualty drags and lifts – with time limits
- Repeated bodyweight movements – eg press-ups and sit-ups
- Endurance runs and sprints to test aerobic and anaerobic fitness
We build your programme around these exact requirements, reducing the risk of injury and maximising performance.
Training for Infantry and Specialist Roles
The demands of the infantry and combat arms are among the toughest in the Army. Our coaches prepare you for:
- Combat task simulations – like stretcher carries and fireman lifts
- Conditioning workouts – combining strength, endurance, and agility
- The mental toughness – essential to performing under stress
We also support preparation for specialist roles including the Parachute Regiment, Royal Engineers, and close protection units.
